Beautifully made learning resource by Liz Dodsworth ... I have very recently begun to consider my Teaching Development Project (for my PG Cert). I have decided that my intervention will include creating audio, visual and animated learning aids to help students better understand technical processes. In particular, I am concentrating on helping students to understand and remember the concept of image resolution. These aids are not concerned with the teaching of skills as such (how to use software), but are more geared towards the teaching of digital principles.

The reason I am approaching this teaching in this way is because many of my students are visual communicators (arts students). Often [arts] students struggle to adapt to technical learning and the complicated terminology that frames it seems to compound this issue - they are essentially asked to learn unfamiliar skills in an unfamiliar language. Therefore conveying technical information in multi-sensory ways will hopefully help them to better understand the information. Also the use of visual metaphor will hopefully give them something to hook the new information onto, should they not have any prior knowledge with which to relate the information to.

This animation and this visual are my first attempts to address my TDP. Any feedback (from teachers and / or technical instructors) would be hugely appreciated!
